aprons
Made out of recycled bib-overalls, denims and cords, new fabrics, remnants and recycled table linens, my full and half (waist) aprons are all my own design and one-of-a-kind. If, however, you would like to purchase multiple aprons in all the same design and fabrics, please contact me to discuss: [email protected].
When I started seeing aprons making a come-back and resurface for sale in boutiques and kitchen stores, I decided to do some research. As I often am when looking up historical data, I was fascinated by
what I learned about aprons.
For centuries, homemakers have of course used aprons to keep their clothing clean - easier to clean an apron than a dress - and less material was used to make an apron than a dress! But, cooking aprons have also been a useful tool for a long time. They've been used to carry utensils, gather and carry eggs and transport wood. Aprons were also wonderful for drying a child's tears and cleaning out dirty ears, and were an ideal place to hide the shy child when guests came. And, when unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture an apron could dust in a matter of seconds!
